The law applies to household appliances and other energy-consuming products that directly or indirectly affect the consumption of energy and, as the case may be, other basic resources during use.

Energy labeling (Figure 2) characterizes products from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and is required for display at the point of sale on household energy-using products.

Refrigerators and freezers have two additional ratings, A + and A ++. The new A +, A ++ and A +++ energy ratings for refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers will become mandatory for all new models on the market.

Products are rated by their energy consumption in kWh (units of energy used per hour). Thus, the less kWh is used, the more efficient the device.

Before placing a product on the market, importers must ensure that the manufacturer has followed the appropriate conformity assessment procedure established by the competent Moldovan body. The amendment was prepared for the Law on Accreditation and Conformity Assessment No. 235 of December 1, 2011, with the exception of such an obligation.
